WE ARE PREGNANT!!
I’ve been planning out this moment for 2.5 years and it’s finally here!!! I took 4 home pregnancy tests that were all positive and was ready to tell Gary. The only problem was figuring out how to hide the cameras and get him to come sit down without giving away the surprise, before I could start recording. We were driving home and he said “as soon as I get home, I’m going to soak in the tub” I thought PERFECT! That gives me at least 30 minutes to get all set up.
I found the gifts I had wrapped for him 2.5 years ago and hid them under the couch, I set the cameras up, I placed the sticky note that said “WE ARE PREGNANT” in the inside cover of the 40 Week Journal … all I needed was Gary!
He called for me and when I came in I said “you aren’t going to put on another one of those stripe shirts are you?” (I actually love the stripe shirts on him, but didn’t want him to wear it in the video lol) He said “why can’t I wear my stripe shirt?” “Because you’ve been wearing them too often” “OK, well pick something out for me” So my go-to thing for him is always the black t-shirt and jeans, the question was, will he put the jeans on if we are just going to be laying around the house. I put some gel in his hair and we were ready to go. Except one thing…. he wouldn’t put his pants on. “It’s too hot” So now what! Should I just start the video with him wearing his briefs??? That won’t work because I won’t really be able to share it with anyone. So I guess I will just follow him around the house, hoping he puts his pants on.
He heads to the kitchen “I’m STARVING!” He pours himself a bowl of cereal and I wait. UGH MORE WAITING!!! I want to tell him NOW! I’m thinking, put the dumb bowl down, go put your pants on and let me tell you we are having a baby!!!
He finishes his cereal, grabs his computer and says “I’m going to work downstairs”. Pants are upstairs and he is heading downstairs. UGH!!! He’s never gonna put these pants on. So I go upstairs and get the pants. I come down and say “I have a surprise, but it involves going outside, so you need to put your pants on” “It’s cold outside, can we do it later?” “No, we have to do it now, but the first part is inside, so just put the pants on and come upstairs”
We head upstairs, I tell him to close his eyes, he sits down on the couch and I turn both cameras on. He is still clueless because I said that I had found a gift for him that I bought a really long time ago and forgot to give it to him. He’s expecting a very simple gift. We call them trinkets. It’s when we give a gift with no special occasion. He has no clue he’s about to find out that our lives are going to change! Forever!!

Oh. Oh. Oh. I am crying and laughing almost as much as Gary! Thank you, thank you for including me. I love seeing the video; it feels like I’m part of the whole experience! Today happens to be my birthday and this is like an awesome birthday present!

OH, Gary, you are so happy. You don’t know you should laugh or cry, or both. It is very over joyed. You have to save this video for your kid(s)to show them when they grow up So they can see your reaction for their arrival. Happy!!!

Gary’s reaction is almost identical to that of my husband when I told him we were pregnant after 2 years of infertility treatments. And again with #2 after 4 years of treatments + IVF. And I’m sitting here crying like a baby reliving it. Congratulations to you!

Ordinarily I would think that a blog like this would be a cheap bid for attention. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I feel both of you so clearly, expressing honest thoughts, and willing to open your lives to those of us who, through social media or real life, have come to know you both. If I ever hear of friends who are going through IVF, I will send them here. You both have really have touched my heart-that’s a lovely gift to have been given and I thank you for it.
I wish you both and your babies (or baby) robust good health-you’ve all clearly got plenty of love-and a safe comfortable journey over the next months.

I don’t know either of you, I stumbled across this off a link from a friend. This video is SO awesome! I LOVE how excited he is. Which is how dad’s should feel, but a lot don’t. You two are exactly the kind of people who should be having kids! Best of luck to you in your pregnancy. Babies are the best, I am sure you will both be happy beyond measure!
